As California appellate court's have remarked, attorney fees are the "mother's milk" to ensure parity in matrimonial litigation between spouses and domestic partners. Often, without an award of attorney fees from one party to the other, the "out-spouse" is hopelessly lost and overpowered. Unfortunately for people in relationship struggle, attorney fee issues often overlap sanctionable divorce related conduct and breach of fiduciary duty issues so that you might benefit from studying those pages too. The fact is, when you catch the other side playing deviously or behaving in narcissitic and fast and loose behaviors with your community property, or even their own separate property, you will greatly increase your likelihood of receiving large fee awards. Unfortunately, however, the work that must be done to uncover the hiding and lying behaviors is extremely time consumptive, meaning you will run up huge fees attempting to perfect your claim and recovery of the financial resources you need to protect and advance your own interests.
